Join our dynamic team at The Ralph in southeast England (Marlow), the UK’s largest independent multidisciplinary specialist referral centre, where we’re offering a unique internship opportunity.
You will join our large team (~260 Ralphers) in a hospital with a busy referral caseload and excellent facilities.
We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic veterinary surgeon with a keen interest in small animal surgery to start a one-year speciality internship. The start date is open for discussion, and the internship may be extended by mutual agreement.
The successful candidate will join our talented Surgery team, which includes three ECVS diplomates, three ECVS residency-trained clinicians, an ECVS resident and four interns.
At The Ralph, you will have access to a range of surgical equipment, including arthroscopy, laparoscopy, fluoroscopy, CT/MRI, and many orthopaedic and soft tissue tools. You will also have opportunities to be fully immersed in all aspects of surgical case management, including consultations, diagnostics, surgical procedures, and perioperative care. We are an enthusiastic and progressive team that thrives when teaching and evolving our clinical practice. Clinical research is actively encouraged and supported.
During the internship, you will work in close contact with diplomates in all disciplines, including Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Cardiology, Dentistry, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Oncology, Ophthalmology and our excellent Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation team. Our well-established ICU, with its specialist ECC team, provides a diverse and exciting caseload with plentiful surgical emergencies!
You will receive pastoral support from within your service, our Resident and Vet Intern Support Officers, and others. You will have regular check-ins and feedback opportunities.

Marlow is located on the River Thames between Henley and Windsor in southeast England. This is a beautiful area with lovely walks, water-based activities and more. Marlow is conveniently located only 25 minutes from Heathrow Airport, 45 minutes from Luton Airport and one hour from Gatwick or Stansted Airport.
